Subject: Tesco planning proposal for Partick, Glasgow date : 6th July 2007 Ladies and Gentlemen, You may or may not have heard that Tesco have decided that Glasgow City Council do not move quickly enough for them. I have been informed that Tesco intend to appeal to the Scottish Executive for a decision on their application to build a superstore and student accommodation at Beith street in Partick, claiming that GCC by taking so long to deal with the application through the normal channels, that it amounts to a refusal. I also understand that at the present time the GCC are awaiting results of an Air Quality study being done close to the application site, i.e. Dumbarton Road and Byres Road, (know air quality black spots), before the application goes to Planning Committee. The STOP Group, (Stop Tesco Owning Partick) are shocked that Tesco should attempt to side track GCC's legitimate right to proceed as they are doing.
